How we read compatibility
Every guide uses the same three ingredients, applied the same way to every sign.
- Element. Fire and air tend to feed each other, and earth and water tend to nourish each other. Signs that share an element often share a temperament.
- Modality. Cardinal signs start things, fixed signs hold on, and mutable signs adapt. Two signs of the same modality can understand each other well, or compete for the same role.
- Aspect. The distance between two signs on the zodiac wheel, counted in signs, gives each pairing a traditional character.

We do not give percentage scores. No honest method can turn a relationship into a number, and a score would suggest a precision astrology does not have.

Compatibility questions
What is zodiac compatibility?
It is the astrological tradition of comparing two signs to see how their temperaments might meet. It looks at the element, the modality and the angle between the signs, and it is usually applied to romance, friendship and work.
Which zodiac signs are the most compatible?
No pair is best for everyone. By tradition, signs that sit a trine or sextile apart, which usually means the same element or a complementary one, find it easiest to get along. The table above shows these for every sign.
Does the sign I was born under decide who I should be with?
No. Your sun sign is one placement in a chart that also includes your Moon, Venus and Mars signs, and those often say more about how you love. Treat compatibility as a conversation starter, not a rule.
Is zodiac compatibility accurate?
